BOXINIT is a wall mounted, easy to modify, stackable shelving system, made from 100 % reclaimed pine floorboards
and fences, with classic wood joinery (finger joints) and
a flexible metal connector developed for the project. The
unit explores issues of user empowerment flexibility and
control over living spaces through design.
This project was based on the recycling of wood waste from urban construction dumpsters; the wood was cleaned from metal bits and processed in a factory specializing in wooden boxes. The shelving system developed in this project aimed to enable privet usersinterior decorators, a flexible way to showcase small artifacts and books on walls; in an easy to modify manner. The design aims to enable people to change the shape of the system intuitively by repositioning and reconnecting the boxes. This project was designed so that the boxes stack into one another with all the additional parts (6 boxes altogether) enabling effective shipping and packaging.
