Drawers+, Reclaimed ready-made drawers with a wall mounted plywood
construction (fallout of laser and CNC factories) + new function (book shelf, IPad, smartphone docking, makeup area).
The project started as an attempt in collecting readymade
material through the social media, as a way to collect a large
number of drawers for the first “wet paint” exhibition. Around
100 drawers were collected in under a month. The drawers were
cleaned and then brought back to use, with an added value (hence
the project’s name).
The project focused on bedside, floating cabinets, offering
various functions. It did relatively well commercially. It raised
questions on the way to streamline the collection and the marketing of slightly different objects (as readymade = none identical).
The differentiation amongst the collected ready made implied a
constant need to fine-tune the design.
