If a Tree Falls in the Desert
Solo Exhibition, May 2023 Benyamini Center, Tel-Avivnever the tree alone & local spicies.
"If a Tree Falls in the Desert" explored the hidden journey of timber, from living tree to processed lumber.
The works in this section related to the variety of tree types in Israel raising questions on locality and identity. 34 tree stumps were planed on two sides, showing the bark (natural tree) and the heartwood (the processed lumber) simultaneously. The second work showed different types of local lichen and fungus presented on cubes of processed timber offering a juxtaposition between the natural state of the lichen and the processed rectangular wood.
Commissioned: Self initiated (solo exhibition)
Materials: semi planed local wood types, lichen

If a Tree Falls in the Desert
Solo Exhibition, May 2023 Benyamini Center, Tel-Aviv
"If a Tree Falls in the Desert" explored the hidden journey of timber, from living tree to processed lumber. The installations, video, and objects presented investigations into Israeli timber: raw logs juxtaposed with precisely milled lumber, branches in glass bottles offering their specific scent, pieces that reveal the layered history within a single trunk, and objects that preserve the memory of the tree within new forms. Seven different themes were explored within the broader context of the exhibition.
This exhibition sparked a broader research project on Israel's timber industry—an ongoing investigation that forms the foundation of a forthcoming book examining the hidden stories within Israel's wood supply chain.
Commissioned: Self initiated for Fresh Paint
Materials: Pine wood waste processed at a wooden boxes factory, stainless steel clips, glass vase.
